A minimum level of
communication equipment is required to access the eSPEC system. Suppliers must
have access to either the Internet via an ISP or to the ANX network. A
connection via a web browser is also required. International recommends:
The minimum level of
CAD/CAM capability required by an individual International
Truck supplier will vary based upon the expected role of the
supplier in the design and tooling of a given component or
system. There are currently three basic levels of design and
tooling support generally expected of International Truck
suppliers and the minimum CAD/CAM capability required for each
level.
Design Responsible
Whenever International delegates
sole design responsibility to a supplier or shares design
responsibility in a collaborative design effort,
International Truck Suppliers must be able to provide full
3D parametric solid models, detail drawing, design layout,
and schematics in the version of Unigraphics currently being
used by International's Truck Engineering.
- As of August 20, 2007, the current version of Unigraphics being
used by International Truck Engineering is Version NXv4.
Design Assist
Whenever International has final design responsibility,
and the supplier is expected to provide input into the
design to maximize reliability, manufacturability, or reduce
the cost of systems, components, or tooling, International
Truck Suppliers must be able to send and receive design
layouts, detail drawings, and schematics in either the
current version of Unigraphics used by International or be
able to deliver 100% compatible 3D Parasolid models. If your
company needs to make incremental purchases of CAD/CAM
software, in order to meet this requirement, we strongly
recommend Solid Edge.
Suppliers must be able to send and
receive details, designs, and schematics in either the
current version of Unigraphics being used by International
Truck or in a Parasolid format. CAD/CAM programs capable of
using a Parasolid format include:
- Unigraphics
- Solid Edge
- Solid Works
Build to Print
The Build To Print level of support is
where International Truck has sole design responsibility for
the component or system and the supplier is not expected to
provide input into the design.
Supplier must be able to receive
details, designs, and schematics from Internationals
eSPEC system in one of the following formats:
- Unigraphics
- Parasolid
- IGES
- STEP
- CGM
- PDF
